Het thema voor Wereld Borstvoeding Week 2008 is bekend. De internationale titel is ''Mother Support: going for the gold". Dit verwijst natuurlijk naar de ook in 2008 plaatsvindende Olympische Spelen. Een boeiende vergelijking. Olympische Spelen en moeder tot moeder support gaan allebei over prestaties die je doet omdat je het graag doet en belangrijk vindt. Ook het internationale aspect vind je bij beide terug. Sporters en moeders wereldwijd komen samen en werken samen. Zelf het competitie element is voor beide herkenbaar. Wie is de beste, wie scoort het hoogst. Want hoewel het bij beide om het spel gaat, zijn de knikkers toch ook heel aardig om te winnen.
Moeder tot moeder support is een Olympiade waard en waardig. Belangeloze inzet van moeders voor moeders en hun kinderen voor een goede en gezonde start in het leven. Laten we die Olympische, nooit dovende vlam doorgeven.
